WMCSFA 7-A-SIDE

ARCHIVES

The WMCSFA 7-a-side is the first step on the way to the world schools' football finals which are held annually in exotic places such as New York and Marrakesh. The winners of this competition qualify for the Midlands finals, then the national finals and then the world finals. Over recent years, BPSFA districts have had hitherto unheard of success in a competition traditionally dominated by non-Birmingham districts. In 2017, South Birmingham made it to the national finals before succumbing to an extra-time deflected goal. A year later in 2018, Sutton Coldfield also made it to the national finals before losing a keenly contested semi-final to the eventual winners.

After lifting the WMCSFA 7-a-side in 2017, South Birmingham made it all the way to the national final before losing in extra time to a single goal. This is the best performance by a BPSFA association to date.

In 2019, Erdington and Saltley won the WMCSFA 7-a-side for the first time in their history after beating South Birmingham in the final.

After winning the WMCSFA 7-a-side in December 2017, the all-conquering Sutton Coldfield of 2017/18 went on to claim the Midlands 7-a-side in March 2018.
